Blue Valley Considers Removing Morrison Book

POSTED: 9:48 pm CST November 29, 2005
UPDATED: 9:53 pm CST November 29, 2005

A controversial book in the Blue Valley School District is getting a closer look this week.

Some parents want Toni Morrison's "Song of Solomon" pulled from the curriculum because it contains sexual references, bad language and violence.

On Dec. 1, an 11-member committee made up of school employees, parents and students will hear a presentation from those who want the book removed. The committee will vote on the issue, but the Board of Education will have the final decision.

The meeting is open to the public. It begins at 4 p.m. at the Blue Valley District Offices on Metcalf Avenue.
