A metro-area family calls itself the One Kidney Club.

Five members of a Shawnee family have all donated a kidney. The generosity of Tom and Joyce Falsey and three other relatives has been featured in national magazines and on TV shows.

The Falseys said the donations started when one of their nephews was in need.

"At 29 years old, he looked like he was 89 -- he was on dialysis. On a 100-degree day, he'd go outside and he'd be freezing. It was no way to live," Tom Falsey said.

"If something would happen to our one remaining kidney, we hope somebody else would step up and we'd get lucky. We're just not losing any sleep over it," said Joyce Falsey.

This weekend, the Falseys will travel to Omaha, Neb., for a donor reunion. Joyce will meet a woman who received her kidney last fall.
