The Internal Antenna: Does It Work?
Aylward Reports That The Antenna Works, Sometimes
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Updated 2:16 p.m. CST November 25, 2000 -- Does an Internal Antenna for cell phones help improve reception?
KMBC 9 News' Emily Aylward said, "Sort of."
Aylward's cell phone without the antenna would not work in most of KMBC's newsroom and the rest of the building.
The Internal Antenna claims that it is like adding a 4-foot antenna to your cell phone. It claimed to reduce static and to allow cell phones to work in tunnels, elevators and other concealed places.
Aylward reported that it did not work in KMBC's elevator. She was able to get a call through while sitting at her desk, which is in the basement of a building.
Aylward said that she gives the Internal Antenna a B+ because it did improve her reception in some places.
