Expos Agree To Terms With Ohka, Armas

Montreal, QC -- The Montreal Expos have come to terms on a
one-year contract with starting pitcher Tomo Ohka, thus avoiding arbitration
with the veteran righthander.The 27-year-old Ohka had a career-high 34 starts last season, going 10-12 with
a 4.16 ERA. His 34 starts tied for third in the National League, behind only
Greg Maddux (36) and Kevin Millwood (35). Ohka also had two complete games and
finished the 2003 campaign with 16 straight scoreless innings. Ohka also
allowed two walks or less in 27 of his starts in 2003. Ohka started his major league career in Boston in 1999, but was traded in the
middle of the 2001 season to the Expos. He has a lifetime mark of 30-37 with a
4.00 ERA in 109 games, including 100 starts. Late Monday night, the team also came to terms to a one-year contract with
pitcher Tony Armas Jr. Armas is 30-37 with a 4.11 ERA in 86 career starts over five seasons with the
Expos. First baseman Nick Johnson is the only remaining Expo now eligible for salary
arbitration.
