KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man accused in a hit-and-run last year pleaded guilty on Friday.Sergio Ortiz pleaded guilty to careless and imprudent driving and leaving the scene of an accident.Police said Ortiz was driving a pickup truck that hit Juan Portillo, 14, in January 2006. Officers said Portillo was riding his bicycle along Truman Road near Bennington Avenue when a pickup truck pulled out of a drive-in restaurant and hit him. Portillo was knocked off of his bicycle and dragged under the pickup for about 200 feet.
The teenager was hospitalized for several days.
