Service Members Overseas Tell Their Stories
UPDATED: 4:39 pm CDT June 29,
2007
Postcards From Iraq are letters and pictures sent from service members on duty overseas.
The project was started by Thomas O'Hara, a reserve soldier who works in Kansas City with the Army Corps of Engineers.
O'Hara said he was unhappy with conventional coverage of the war in Iraq, so he asked military personnel and civilians overseas to tell their own stories.
"In fairness to those who have sacrificed themselves and who continue to sacrifice themselves, we should give credit to the good that's also been going on over there," O'Hara told KMBC's Maria Antonia. "I think a lot of folks would be surprised to find out three-fourths of the country has more than twice as much power as it did before."
