Two people were injured Monday in a dog attack in northeast Jackson County.

Officials said a couple in their 30s was walking near 2921 North Hoover Road when a mastiff attacked the man.

KMBC's Marcus Moore reported that the woman called for help and a neighbor brought over a knife. The dog, which weighed more than 100 pounds, was stabbed to death during the struggle.

The man and woman were taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not released.

Neighbors said this isn't the first time the mastiff has attacked someone.

The man who owned the dog was taken into custody after he allegedly threatened a reporter with a weapon, Moore reported.
