Republican Phill Kline and Democrat Chris Biggs can't decide who won the race for Kansas attorney general. The results have Kline ahead by a margin of about 3,500 votes, but that number is smaller than the amount of provisional ballots cast in the state, which have yet to be counted. The Secretary of State's Office said there are between 8,000 and 10,000 provisional ballots that must be counted, KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reported. About half of those ballots come from Wyandotte and Johnson counties.
Each county will double-check their vote totals from Tuesday, then check the provisional votes to make sure they come from a properly registered voter. In Kansas, anywhere from half to two-thirds of the provisional votes are typically counted, Mahoney said. With the race hinging on such a slim margin, a request for a recount would not be unexpected.
