KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The price of gas seems to be getting higher and higher.
Some residents say it's enough to make them want to park their cars and walk. And it's possible drivers could be in for even more price hikes down the road.
AAA says the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Kansas City is $1.55 per gallon, compared to $1.73 in New York and $1.89 in Minnesota.
With supplies tight, demand up and people worried about war, it's predicted drivers could see prices jump to more than $2 per gallon by spring, KMBC's Brenda Washington reported.
Part of that may be due to an oil-worker strike in Venezuela, whose oil usually accounts for 14 percent of U.S. imports. According to Reuters, Venezuela is currently operating at half its normal output.
Whatever the cause, some drivers say they won't be willing to pay that high a price.
Some people in Westport told Washington that they are thinking about leaving the car at home and taking the bus to work, or even getting a bike.
Washington said that oil prices have not been this high in about two years.
