Officials Conduct DNA Tests On Missing Girl's Apparent Father

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- 
Kansas City, Mo., police Tuesday announced the discovery of a possible link in the Precious Doe case.
Local authorities have been in contact with police in Richmond, Va., regarding a child who is missing from that area.
The missing girl, Brittany Renee Williams, resembles the reconstructed images of Precious Doe, KMBC's Peggy Breit said.
Brittany has been missing since August 2000. The body of Precious Doe was discovered in a Kansas City park in April 2001.
Officials are testing the DNA of a man who claims to be Brittany's father against the DNA of Precious Doe. Even if a match is not found, officials plan to obtain DNA samples from someone on Brittany's mother's side of the family, Breit said. The girl's mother died in 1996.
Those tests are being done at the crime lab in Kansas City. Officials did not say when the results will be released.
