A 36-year-old woman is accused of attempting to castrate her boyfriend.

Jackson County prosecutors charged Jean M. McLean (pictured, below) with unlawful use of a weapon and domestic assault.

According to investigators, a Jackson County sheriff's deputy was called to the 8600 block of 18th Street Monday morning because of a disturbance. Chuck Clark, 34, told the deputy that he was asleep and was awakened to find his girlfriend holding a knife at his genitals. Clark told authorities that his girlfriend threatened to cut off his penis for being with another woman.

Jean M. McLeanHe was able to get away from the suspect, and suffered only minor abrasions.

"Well, when I met her, it was wonderful. I loved her and we got along great," Clark told KMBC's Peggy Breit.

Clark told Breit that he had gone to sleep on the couch after an argument with his girlfriend.

"I wake up and she's pulling on me down there, and I leaned up and I said, 'What the hell are you doing?'" he said.

Both called police, but McLean was taken to the Jackson County Jail where she is being held on $10,000 bond.

Clark said his girlfriend's jealously is unfounded.

"I mean I love her. It's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me in my life. I've never been with anybody so protective and overly jealous as her," he said.

Clark said that he is juggling the responsibilities of home and caring for their baby girl. He said that he doesn't want his girlfriend to stay in jail, but he wants her to get therapy.

"I mean everybody deserves a second chance. She's never been in trouble before. It was wrong what she did and it scared the hell out of me. It just shocked me more than anything. I mean, what if she would have really done that, you know?" Clark said.
