KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- How much money do you make a year and how does it compare to other people who do the same job?
KMBC's Jim Flink reported that Kansas Citians are earning more now than they were a year ago.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor's National Compensation Survey, the average Midwestern worker now makes $15.29 and hour. Add in benefits and it's $21.25 an hour.
Kansas Citians are doing better by averaging $18.71 an hour, but when benefits are factored in, it is about $21.19 an hour.
Despite those figures, Flink reported that Midwesterners still lag behind workers in the Northeast and West, but are ahead of those in the South.
White-collar workers in Kansas City average $5 an hour more than blue-collar workers.
Among white-collar jobs, executives and financial managers did the best. Other top jobs included civil engineers at $38.50 an hour and computer specialists at $31.45 an hour.
