Police are investigating two shootings that occurred blocks apart from one another Friday evening.

The shootings happened in the 1100 block of Woodland Avenue and in the 1600 block of Ella Fitzgerald Lane. Three people were injured, one of whom suffered life-threatening injuries. That person's condition was later listed as stable.

Police said that the two other injured did not have serious wounds. Two of the injured are adults who appear to be in their 20s, and the third is a young girl who appears to be about 9 years old.

Authorities said they found multiple shell casings, and several vehicles were apparently struck by the gunfire.
