Mo. Highway Patrol Hopes Tattoos Lead To Identification Of Body

UPDATED: 3:05 pm CDT June 18, 2004

Officials have determined that several body parts found in the Missouri River last week are all from the same person, but authorities have been unable to identify the victim.

A portion of the body was found in Moniteau County just one day after a leg washed up in Callaway County. The body had several tattoos, and authorities hope someone will be able to identify the victim through those marks.

The Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. Troopers posted pictures of the tattoos on their Web site. To view the images, click here. Warning: these images are extremely graphic.

Anyone with information about the body should contact Highway Patrol Sgt. Kurt Mueller at (573) 751-1000 or (800) 877-3452.
