INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- Another clue may have been found in the search for a missing Kansas City woman, but police want to know if it was planted.Summer Shipp, 54, disappeared in December while conducting door-to-door research in Independence. Her car was later found, but there has been no sign of her.
Last weekend, volunteers led by a private investigator hired by the family searched a field near Highway 24 and Noland Road in Independence. The group found another discount card belonging to Shipp. In January, one of her discount cards was turned in to Price Chopper.Police have searched that field several times before and are wondering why it wasn't found earlier.
"We're still checking to see if it's valid evidence or if it was planted there," Detective Joseph Christiansen said.KMBC's Donna Pitman reported that police will take the discount card to a crime lab for tests.Anyone with information in the case can contact the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477. There is a $100,000 reward for information.
