A Kansas child allegedly kidnapped by his mother has been found safe in Arizona, police said Monday.

Evan Snow

Evan Snow, 9, was allegedly taken on Dec. 4 by his mother, Jaimy Snow, 29, investigators said.

The child's father, Robert Todd, of Merriam, who has parental custody, had brought Evan to a Kansas City park at 26th and Cherry streets for a visit with his mom, police said. The mother allegedly grabbed the child and fled in a car, investigators said.

Todd told KMBC's Lara Moritz that it was a mistake to let Evan's mother visit him, and he'll never make that mistake again.

"She just took Evan, and I turned around and I'm hearing Evan scream, 'Daddy!'" Todd said. "That's my heart, that's my No. 1 person in life."

He spent almost four months searching for his only son.

"It was bad, I got depressed for a while," Todd said.

Finally, he received a call from police.

"The phone rang and my heart just dropped," Todd said.

Officers had received a tip from a minister that the boy had been taken to Arizona. Monday, Phoenix police served a warrant and arrested Jaimy Snow. The child was found at a religious compound.

"I'm just happy I got to talk to him today," Todd said. "I asked him if he missed us and he said, 'Yeah, Daddy, I'm ready to come home.' Are you doing OK? 'Yeah, Daddy, I'm fine.'"

Todd left Tuesday for Arizona to pick up his son.

Court papers show that Jaimy Snow had no custodial or visitation rights. She's being held on $100,000 bond and is awaiting extradition to Missouri on a kidnapping charge.

Todd said he's angry with Evan's mother and he's worried about her other children.

"I just hope she gets some help. She's got problems and she needs to get help with it," Todd said.

Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the boy's father as Robert Snow. The correct name is Robert Todd. We regret the error.
