MERRIAM, Kan. -- A 9-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped by his mother nearly four months ago is finally back home with his father, KMBC's Lara Moritz reported Wednesday.
Evan Snow was abducted in December from a Kansas City park. After receiving a tip, police in Phoenix picked up the child and arrested Evan's mother, Jaimy Snow. Court papers show that she had no custodial or visitation rights.
Evan Snow told KMBC that a cousin of his mother's was in on the kidnapping."He just picked me up and I screamed, 'Daddy,'" Snow said. The child's father, Robert Todd, flew to Arizona Tuesday and returned to Merriam with his son early Wednesday morning. When Evan returned home, he said everything in his room was exactly the same as when he left; not even his books had been touched.Snow said he was taken to a shelter in Phoenix, and the only thing he had were memories of his dad and his home back in Kansas. He said he missed his games, his Batman blanket, his stuffed animals and his clothes."I didn't get to wear what I wanted to wear," Snow said.He said he never knew how much he loved his family until he was taken away."A whole bunch, I can tell you that," Snow said.Evan's dad said he wanted to thank everyone who helped bring his son home safely.Jaimy Snow could face federal kidnapping charges for allegedly taking her son across state lines.
