KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Police are investigating a double stabbing at a motel in the 500 block of Southwest Boulevard Thursday morning.

Officers were called to the motel on a disturbance at about 6:45 a.m. When they arrived, officers said they took one person into custody and recovered a knife.

The two victims were taken to hospitals before police arrived. One of the victim's injuries is described as potentially life-threatening.

Prosecutors charged Nelson Maldonado, 30, with two counts of aggravated battery. He is in custody in the Wyandotte County Jail on $75,000 bond.
