A man in his 40s was rushed to an Overland Park hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed in the back Friday afternoon, police said.

The attack happened at about 1:15 p.m. in the 13800 block of West 109th Street. The victim was found by his wife, KMBC's Jim Flink reported.

The wife ran to a neighbor for help.

"She was really panicked. When I talked to her, she was in shock," neighbor Dereck Counch said.

The victim was upgraded to stable condition Friday evening, officials said.

No arrests have been made and officials are searching for a motive in the attack. Police said the victim was believed to have been home alone, but the garage door was open when investigators arrived. No witnesses have come forward.
