Man Charged In Lenexa Stabbing Death
Riddle Held On $1M Bond

LENEXA, Kan. -- Johnson County, Kan., prosecutors said Tuesday that they have charged an Olathe man in the December slaying of Nigel Marcotte.Charles K. Riddle, 22, is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated burglary. Last week, Riddle was charged with identity fraud and misuse of a credit card.KMBC's Peggy Breit reported that Riddle is suspected of using a credit card owned by Marcotte. Police said there is surveillance video showing Riddle allegedly using the card, and investigators searched Riddle's home and said they collected more evidence there.
Marcotte, 42, was repeatedly stabbed in his Lenexa home on Dec. 16, 2005. He later died from his injuries.Investigators said Marcotte was apparently a random victim of violence -- his attacker entered his home through an open garage door.Police believe Riddle acted alone in the slaying.One of Riddle's neighbors told KMBC that the charges are shocking and that you couldn't meet a nicer kid.Breit reported that Marcotte's widow said she was relieved an arrest was made in the case.Riddle is being held on $1 million bond.
