Mercedes Driver Arrested On Unrelated Warrant

A police officer on a motorcycle was hurt in a crash on Highway 291 Monday afternoon.

Police said the Lee's Summit officer was traveling south on the highway when a Mercedes entered the intersection at Persels Road.

The officer hit the Mercedes and was ejected from the motorcycle, police said. The officer was able to call for help.

Police said the Mercedes driver ran a red light. The driver was arrested on a warrant for a previous traffic violation.

The officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.
