LIBERTY, Mo. -- A man on a bicycle was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of North Morse Avenue, KMBC's Bev Chapman reported.

The bicyclist and the driver were taken to local hospitals. Their conditions were not released.

Neighbors said the bicyclist is a man in his 20s who lives nearby and often bikes in the area.

Witnesses said the bicyclist was riding quickly down a hill and didn't stop at a stop sign. The man slammed into a car in the intersection.

Witness Barbara Coleman said the car driver couldn't have stopped in time.

Neighbors said the bicyclist had often ignored the stop sign and that he had been warned to stop at the intersection.
