A bicyclist was killed Friday afternoon in a collision with a cement truck in downtown Kansas City.

KMBC's Marcus Moore reported that the bicyclist hit the truck at 12th Street and Grand Boulevard.

Witnesses said the truck was turning right onto Grand when the man was hit.

"He hit the bike and he fell on the ground, it caught his leg. And the tire wrapped him up and drug him down the street," witness James Martin said.

"When the truck was going down, it looked like it just jerked him up, like the wind just snatched him up," witness Aaron Benton said.

Moore reported that the bicyclist was dragged about a block before the driver seemed to realize what had happened and stopped the truck.

"I don't remember if the police if the police stopped him or the construction workers stopped him. He didn't know what was going on until they stopped him," Benton said.

Police are questioning the driver of the cement truck. A relative of the driver said he was shaken by the events.

The victim's name was not released.
