Friends said legendary baseball player Buck O'Neil is still resting in a hospital and that his condition has not improved.

O'Neil, 94, checked into a local hospital in mid-September for "extreme fatigue."

However, donations toward a project honoring him have picked up. The Negro League Baseball Museum said so far, about $100,000 has come in for the project called Thanks A Million Buck, and the goal is to reach $1 million by Nov. 11, when a huge party is planned for O'Neil's 95th birthday.

O'Neil is one of the most sought-after speakers in sports. He's had a heavy schedule of public appearances for the past several months.

O'Neil just missed being voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this year. He was a star player and manager for the Kansas City Monarchs in the 1940s and '50s, later becoming the first black coach in the major leagues.

O'Neil is also a tireless promoter for the Negro Leagues Museum in Kansas City.
