Vegas Q&A: Which Players' Club Is Best?

UPDATED: 11:36 am CST February 28, 2005

Question: Which casinos have the best slot clubs?

Janet in Burlington, Vt.

Ask Rick

Answer: All hotels and casinos have some version of a slot or players' club that offers you rewards the more you gamble. Deciding which is best is sort of a matter of personal taste.

In my experience, the Las Vegas Hilton has had the best and most generous slot club of the major players. Back when it was with Caesars Entertainment -- and even now that the Hilton is on its on -- I got lots of offers, and I'm not a big gambler.

I'm also fond of the Carl Icahn properties, such as Stratosphere and Arizona Charlie's. I joined the Stratosphere players' club, and when I played there regularly I was offered more free hotel rooms than I knew what to do with. And I didn't even lose that much money. I got mailings every few weeks with offers to come for tournaments, free meal coupons and all sorts of other fun goodies.

The Station Casinos group players' club, known as the Boarding Pass, is quite effective since it is valid at so many different hotels. You can use it at Green Valley Ranch, Sunset Station, Palace Station, Texas Station, Boulder Station and Santa Fe Station, and it's pretty easy to build up points toward the terrific buffets and other treats.

Generally speaking, the smaller hotels seem to have the best programs with the biggest rewards, which makes sense, owing to the fact that they have to work a bit harder to get people to visit.
